Join award-winning authors, editors, publishers and literary agents for a day full of education and inspiration, talks and workshops. Capitol City Young Writers First Annual Northern California Writers Conference takes place on Saturday, July 17 from 9:30 am to 5 pm at San Domenico School in San Anselmo, CA. Attendance to this conference is only for youth in grades 6-12 and adults who pay for a youth scholarship. The $100 registration fee includes lunch and a book (for youth). July 17-18

Vaca Valley Vettes and North Bay Corvettes invites you to watch Corvettes perform as they race around the clock at Solano Community College from 9 am to 3 pm in the parking lot. Registration to drive your Corvette on the track is from 7 am to noon and costs $35.

Tuesday, July 20

Vacaville is hosting their own Biggest Loser competition. Come for an informational Meeting at 6:30 pm. First meeting & weigh-in is Tuesday, July 27. Meetings will be every Tuesday at 5:30 pm (12 weeks). Location: 2050 Peabody Rd., Suite 200, Vacaville. Cost is only $25 to participate.

A benefit prom for DJ Baker at the Red Lyon Hotel, 1401 Arden Way in Sacramento. D.J. Baker is a 12 year old boy from Vacaville who was diagnosed with Leukemia this past year and is currently undergoing chemotherapy to treat this life threatening disease. Drink specials at the bar. Raffle tickets included as well as prom pictures and prom king a queen. All proceeds benefit the Baker family. Must be 21 and up. $40 tickets. 9 pm – 1 am.

July 31 - August 1

Outrun MS, held at Lagoon Valley. Come join Richard Burke on his 100 mile solo run in his effort to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis. Anyone can participate with him throughout the 26 hour period, with groups of 3 to 5 running for 5K or 10K segments. The run will start on July 31 at 8 am and end August 1 at 10 am. Vacaville Museum Guild’s Annual Children’s Party from 10 am to 12:30 pm in the Museum Courtyard, 213 Buck Avenue. The theme is Summer Magic and will feature crafts, games, a petting zoo, face painting and mascot interaction. Tickets are available at the Vacaville Museum, Wednesday through Sunday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. It costs $5 for the first family member, and $3 for each additional family member. This price includes popcorn and a hot dog lunch. The party is geared toward children ages 3 - 9 accompanied by an adult.
