Event Calendar January 19 - 22 Solano Youth Theater presents Hairspray. It’s 1960’s Baltimore, where the 50’s are out — and change is in the air. Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program’s reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love without mussing her hair? Free. 1020 Ulatis Drive, Vacaville. 7 pm Saturday, January 28 Vacaville Police and Firefighters Association host Charge On. A walk from Vallejo to Vacaville in honor of Fallen Vallejo Police Office James Capoot. Cost is $30 to participate in the walk. At the end of the walk there will be a dinner/concert to celebrate his life. Dinner tickets are separate from the walk are $30/ticket or $50/couple. This year’s event will feature entertainment by the renowned Sylvan Singers followed by dancing to the tunes of the award winning Will C. Wood Jazz Ensemble, as well as performances by the Orchestra Di Legno. Patrons enjoy great food, dancing, singing, and music, in an effort to showcase the gifted students in the fine arts programs at Will C. Wood High School. Tuesday, January 30 The Vacaville Biggest Losers-Healthy Losers, will kick-off its fourth season, hosted by Christine Andrew, Certified Nutrition Consultant. A no host bar at 6 pm, with dinner at 7 pm at the Elmira Firehouse, 6080A Street, Elmira. There will be music, a raffle and a silent auction. Participants are asked to bring their own Crab utensils and butter for themselves. Get your green on and prepare yourself for St. Patrick’s Day. Learn a wee bit of Irish, enjoy the magic of Ireland, and experience the mystery of St. Patrick. Did Patrick really drive the snakes out of the Ireland? ‘Celtic Mystery’ takes a mystical journey through the Legends of St. Patrick with Irish music, dance, story, shortbread and more. Director Katherine Martin spent a decade in Northern Ireland and weaves authenticity with Irish magic in this pre-Paddy’s Day celebration. At VPAT, 7 pm. Tickets are $9-18. Friday, March 23 The City of Vacaville & On Stage Vacaville present: Richard Marx. His debut single Don’t Mean Nothing in 1987 sold 3 million copies. His 1989 follow-up CD, Repeat Offender became even more successful, selling over seven million copies worldwide. The show is “all acoustic” featuring a string quartet, a few well told personal stories and a conversational vibe fans love. At VPAT, 8 pm. Tickets are $39. Sunday, March 25 Solano Community Symphony presents 25th Anniversary Season, Great Composers Maestro Semyon Lohss and the Solano Community Symphony present selections from Chadwick, Saint-Saens and Dvorak.
